We start with a FREE, in-home measure and design consultation appointment. During our first visit, we’ll introduce ourselves, explain who we are and what we do and then ask you what your goals are for the remodeling project you have in mind.
Next, we’ll do a site inspection and collect accurate measurements of the kitchen walls, soffits, ceiling height, windows, doors, HVAC vents, appliances, check plumbing and electrical and ask if flooring will remain or be replaced. Then, we’ll establish the next step based on where you would like to go from there.
Typically, we offer some recommendations based on your ideas and the conditions we found, to determine if refacing or replacing is most cost effective for you. From there, you may wish to schedule an appointment at a cabinetry showroom, where we’ll assist you in selecting cabinet styles, colors and options. We’ll answer your questions and provide complimentary color samples for you, when available.
Following that, we will meet again in your home to quickly confirm measurements and go over the finalized design and determine what, if anything, needs to be changed to better suit your needs. We’ll also present an IPA (Installation & Payment Agreement) detailing all the work to be done, including itemized costs for each task. You may then determine which services you would like us to do and which services you would like to have done by others or even by yourself.
Once finalized and agreed upon, we’ll ask for your signature of acceptance on the Agreement, giving us your approval and authorization to order the new cabinetry and schedule the various steps from initial deconstruction to any final punch list items prior to the conclusion of the project.
Remember, our goal is to complete your project in a timely fashion using skilled tradesmen and achieve complete customer satisfaction to earn your great review as well as any referrals for your family and friends!
How long do you expect to stay in your remodeled home?
The shorter the time frame, the less trendy and more practical you should be with your decisions. Consider more timeless styles and color choices to ensure the broadest appeal when it's time to move.
Insist on a Detailed Contract.
If you jump into a remodeling project with an ambiguous contract or no contract at all, you may as well hire an attorney and set a court date right away. "The contract needs the right address, a start date, a completion date, a detailed description of what is and is not going to be done and a signature from both parties" says Rosie Romero, founder of Legacy Custom Builders in Scottsdale, Arizona and radio personality for "Rosie on the House" heard for over 30 years on KTAR every Saturday morning.
Know what you're getting into.
Sure, remodeling is exciting. But there's also a lot of frustration as you encounter unexpected snags, delays, and the inevitable inconveniences that come from living in a construction zone. You'll handle the lows better if you know they're coming. A reputable remodeler will condition your expectations before a project begins.
The unexpected.
If you expect anything, expect this. Hidden termite damage, jerry-rigged wiring, leaking or old plumbing connections and more unexpected surprises are bound to arise in some capacity. Count on finding something no one could have anticipated in your budget and your time frame, and you will be well prepared if and when it happens.
Change orders.
A separate addendum, added to the original contract, that often times arise due to the inability to have known about or be aware of certain issues prior to beginning work. A prime example is hidden wiring in a soffit area that is being removed to raise the ceiling height. A Change order will be required to cover these additional costs.
Are you Licensed, Bonded and Insured for my Protection?
Yes, we always have been and always will be. This is critical for your protection in the rare and unfortunate event someone is injured on the job. You, your home and your property are protected.
Can I meet with one of your designers to discuss my remodeling project and get a free estimate?
Absolutely…we will be glad to schedule a convenient time for one of our designers to meet with you, discuss your project goals, get field measurements and prepare an estimate based on your choice of cabinet brand, style and color. Please feel free to schedule your own in-home appointment with us here or submit your Contact info and we will gladly respond within minutes most likely.
How do we get rid of the old cabinets, countertops, fixtures, and appliances?
Depending on the age, condition and style of the existing cabinets, often times we can have them removed and re-purposed by Stardust Building Supply or Habitat for Humanity and you will even get a tax-deductible receipt for your donation.
What are my options for new appliances and how do I decide what's best for my new kitchen?
We suggest Spencer's TV & Appliance. They have a dedicated team of specialists that know their products and will work hard to help you determine what's best for you based on your preferences and budget. We typically see the best values using Whirlpool, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, GE, LG and Samsung.
Do I need to replace my current flooring to remodel my kitchen?
Depending on several factors, you may or may not. Do you have extra material from the existing floor, are you changing the cabinet footprint, will any walls be removed or changed to accommodate the new floor plan? We will discuss all your options at our initial meeting and you can decide what works best for your situation and budget.
